EPAT

Assessing exceptional ambition.

EPAT is a demanding English and Verbal Reasoning assessment designed for pupils preparing for entrance to the UK's most selective secondary schools.

It isn't a standard 11+ practice paper.

It isn't straightforward.

It isn't for everyone.

What is EPAT?

EPAT consists of six separate 30 minute assessments. Together, they provide a detailed breakdown of a student's English and Verbal Reasoning ability.

The purpose isn't simply to produce a score.

EPAT is designed to uncover a student's ability in the skills demanded by the most rigorous secondary school entrance examinations, including:

  • reasoning, inference and literary analysis
  • verbal agility and accuracy
  • critical thinking, written maturity and argumentation

Who is EPAT for?

EPAT isn't designed for everyone.

And that's the point.

It's designed for academically ambitious students who enjoy being stretched, challenged and — occasionally — stumped.

The EPAT is for pupils who are:

  • Preparing for the most selective secondary school entrance examinations
  • Already performing to a high academic level
  • Intellectually curious

For many students, EPAT will be unnecessarily challenging.

For the right student, EPAT will be just the challenge they've been looking for.
